For breakfast we had a super simple combination of strawberries & raspberry yogurt. It's pink & red, so that's festive, right? :)
Happy Valentine's Day to you! People have mixed feelings about this day, but I personally love any excuse to make & give pretty things, as well as spend extra time with the people I love. I'm heading home today to see my family for the weekend—we are on reading break at my university—and my boyfriend works 12 hours on Thursdays, so we decided to transplant this year's celebrations to Monday, which we both had off! It worked out perfectly and we spent the day doing all of our favorite things. This was our third v-day together (time flies!) and I love looking back on past years—that's beginning to be one of my favorite parts of writing a blog— and you can see them here and here. Check out this year's recap below :)
I whipped up some fun little tags for our dinner table and he surprised me with these beautiful, springy blooms.
In the afternoon we made our way downtown and spent a couple hours eating lunch in a coffee shop and getting lost amongst the stacks at an awesome old book store.
One tradition that I have maintained is building a fun fort on Valentine's Day. I have a whole board on Pinterest that inspires me each year! It's so much better to drink tea and watch your favorite movies when you have a spotted fort to do it in. This year I got extra lucky because he agreed to watch Pretty Woman with me. Mind you, I had to endure Django earlier in the day—which included a lot of squeezed shut eyes—so I'd say we're even.
For dinner we decided to stay in rather than go out to eat, but we picked a recipe ahead of time and stopped by the store on our way home to pick up the ingredients. We made seafood alfredo pasta and bought some yummy wine that was supposed to be good with seafood! I'd say the best part of this meal—besides that it was incredibly delicious— was the fact that we actually ate at the kitchen table rather than on the couch watching TV!
It was one of the best days I've had in a while, and it was really fun to repeat some of the things we have done for the Valentine's of yesteryears... it felt like we were starting some special traditions of our own.
What are your plans for today? A date with your love? Girls night with your favorite ladies? Skipping the whole thing altogether? One of my friends is throwing a horror movie marathon tonight as an anti-vday event, so there's always that option! ;)
Have a lovely day my sweets!

What an aesthetically pleasing Valentine's Day! :) Seriously, it looks perfect. My husband and I didn't do much, mainly because I've been feeling under the weather, but we plan on making up for it! I agree, any excuse to celebrate the ones you love is good enough for me.
